The first three covers in the archive form the clearest visual sequence. The College Dropout establishes the Dropout Bear, Late Registration keeps the college-world mascot, and Graduation pushes the bear into a much brighter illustrated universe. The recurring character ties the releases together even as the art becomes more elaborate.
After Graduation, that continuity largely disappears. 808s & Heartbreak replaces the mascot with a deflated red heart-shaped balloon on a pale field. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy turns to George Condo's provocative commissioned painting. Yeezus removes conventional front artwork almost entirely, while The Life of Pablo combines Peter Halley's geometric work with an intentionally rough photographic treatment. The result is less a fixed brand than a pattern of visual reinvention.
