After the Gold Rush by Neil Young — album cover art

After the Gold Rush (1970)

An 18-year-old photographer aimed just past his subject, missed his focus, and disguised the blur with a chemical trick that turned a Greenwich Village sidewalk into something ghostly. Neil Young took to it instantly. It became the face of After the Gold Rush and launched a partnership that lasted nearly fifty years.
